How to get folder path for Click. Once application. Heres what I found that worked for being able to get the deployed folder location of my clickonce application and that hasnt been mentioned anywhere I saw in my searches, for my similar, specific scenario The clickonce application is deployed to a company LAN network folder. The clickonce application is set to be available online or offline. My clickonce installation URL and Update URLs in my project properties have nothing specified. That is, there is no separate location for installation or updates. PNG' alt='Installshield Installation Information Folder Delete' title='Installshield Installation Information Folder Delete' />In my publishing options, I am having a desktop shortcut created for the clickonce application. The folder I want to get the path for at startup is one that I want to be accessed by the DEV, INT, and PROD versions of the application, without hardcoding the path. I did not find any of the suggestions in this question or their comments to work in returning the folder that the clickonce application was deployed to that I would then move relative to this folder to find the folder of interest. No other internet searching or related SO questions turned up an answer either. All of the suggested properties either were failing due to the object e. Activation. Deployed thats not a problem but surprisingly Is. Network. Deployed returns false even though I do in fact have a network deployed folder location for the clickonce application. This is because the application is running from the local, cached bits. The solution is to look at App. Domain. Current. Domain. Base. Now,  you want to calibrate your monitor. But your ancient Optix XR color calibrator and Monaco EZColor software wont install. Looks like you need to spend a couple hundred bucks more on new color calibration equipment. Or do you Persistence Pays Off. If you call X Rite technical support, youll be told flat out that the Optix XR will not work with the 6. Windows 7. If you visit their website, youll be given a glimmer of hope, but no real solution. I didnt try the workaround mentioned there because its not necessary. Ive personally used the method I describe below to successfully install the Optix XR and EZColor on computers running Windows 7 Home Premium 6. Windows Vista. Ive been told that it also works on the 6. Windows 7 Professional. So, no matter which version of Windows 7 or Windows Vista you use, the truth is the X Rite Optix XR and Monaco EZColor 2. Note the software downloads mentioned here are free, but in order to use the latest version of EZColor version 2. EZColor. How Not to Install the Optix XR Driver. Installing the Optix XR driver and the EZcolor software will be pretty straight forward for anyone with a new computer running Windows 7. And, if youve upgraded your old machine to Windows 7 by using Windows 7s Custom advanced option where your old hard drive is wiped clean before Windows 7 is installed, it should be just as easy. In my case, I upgraded from Windows Vista using the upgrade option in Windows 7s installer. That option leaves all of your old files and programs in place which  saves a lot of time,  but introduces a few problems of its own. More about this later. Because of a few upgrade related problems, I spent hours installing the Optix XR and EZColor software on my computer, so before I tell you how to succeed in installing the Optix XR driver, let me show you a few ways to fail. You may have better luck. Strike 1 driver install failed. The obvious first step was to plug the Optix XR DTP9. USB port on my new Windows 7 machine. Obvious, but flawed. Windows 7 attempts to locate the correct driver and, after a few seconds, it reports that the Device driver software was not successfully installed. Strike one. Strike 2 Device Manager. Strike two I went to Windows Device Manager. In the Control Panel, choose Hardware and Sound, then under the Devices and Printers section, choose Device Manager. There I found the device called X Rite DTP9. Other Devices section with a big yellow exclamation mark next to it indicating it was not functioning properly. I right clicked on X Rite DTP9. Update Driver Software. Then I chose Search Automatically for Updated Driver Software. It didnt find any, so it failed again. Strike 3 Failed again. Finally, I went back to the Device Manager, uninstalled the X Rite DTP9. Scan for Hardware Changes or you could just restart the computer. It found the DTP9. Strike three Im outta hereStep by Step Installing the Optix XR Hardware. Follow these instructions to get your Optix XR DTP9. EZColor software to work with 6. Windows 7 Start by downloading the correct driver software from the X Rite website. Its called Unified 3. Bit Drivers, 9. 8, 2. XP, Vista, version 3. The actual file name is. X Rite. USBv. 31. Click the link to go to X Rites website to get the file. Click on the words PC Version to start the download. Save it to the Downloads folder on your computer or any other convenient spot. Extract X Rite. USBv. Once, the file is downloaded, navigate to the Downloads folder and unzip it by right clicking on X Rite. USBv. 31. 00. zip and choosing Extract All from the pop up menu. Another window will pop up asking you where you want to save the extracted folder. Leave it at its default which will place it in the same folder as the original zipped file. Make sure you place a check mark in the box next to Show extracted files when complete. This will make it easier to find the extracted files later. Click on Extract. Next, you may see a window that says, Do you want to copy this folder without encryption A problem has prevented this folder from being encrypted. Im not sure why this comes up, but the folder does not need to be encrypted, so click Yes to make it go away and continue with the extraction. If you dont see the encryption message, carry on with the next step. Now, plug the DTP9. USB ports. With luck, your computer will notify you via a pop up balloon at the lower right of your screen that it is Installing Device Driver software. With even more luck, after a few seconds, another balloon message will inform you, X Rite DTP9. Device driver software installed successfully. If you see that message, youre done with the Optix XR hardware installation and can move on to installing the EZcolor software. My laptop, running a fresh installation of the 3. Windows 7 successfully installed the driver. My upgraded 6. 4 bit desktop machine did not. If you dont see the driver software installed successfully message, you have some more work to do. Go to Windows Device Manager as explained above. Once youre in the Device Manager, youll find X Rite DTP9. Other Devices section. It will have an icon next to it showing an exclamation point on a yellow background. That icon indicates the device is not working remember, the driver was not found when we tried to install it earlier. Update driver software. Right click on X Rite DTP9. Update Driver Software. Click on Browse my computer for driver software. Browse to the folder where you unzipped the downloaded driver file. This would normally be in your Downloads folder. There, you should find a folder called X Rite. USBv. 31. 00. Click once on that. You dont have to dig any deeper into that folder even though there is another subfolder within the X Rite. USBv. 31. 00 folder. Just click once on X Rite. USBv. 31. 00 to highlight it and click OK. Browse for driver. Now youre back in the window called Browse your computer for driver software. Make sure there is a check mark in the box next to Include subfolders, then click the Next button. Windows will tell you that it is Installing driver software. Youll probably immediately get another pop up box warning you that Windows cant verify the publisher of this driver software. Ignore the warning and click on Install this driver software anyway. If you dont see this warning, continue with the next step. Update successful. Now, installation continues and, in a minute or so, youll see Windows has successfully updated your driver software. Click Close and youre done. Now its time to install the EZColor software. Step by Step Install Monaco EZColor 2. Software. The Monaco EZColor software is just as easy to install as the Optix XR driver. With my upgraded computer, I ran into a bit of trouble unrelated to the EZcolor software which Ill explain below. For you, with your shiny new machine, it should go like this Download EZColor 2. X Rite website using this link EZColor. Click on the words PC Version to start the download. Once the download completes, double click on EZColor. Windows Security Warning asking you, Are you sure you want to run this software. Yes you are, so click on Run. Now, youll get a Win. Zip Self Extractor window telling you that it will extract files to a folder called C EZ2. Click OK. Next, another Win. Zip window pops up. Dont change anything, just click the Unzip button.
